year in review.

I found this little Q/A list that seems more fun than going month-by-month.

What did you do in 2011 that you’d never done before?
A few things: Interned for a professor in my department, went to the Linguistic Society of America Summer Institute, finally decided what I want to do for my career.

Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't make a list last year. Next year--I will probably set some goals, but I have no idea what they will be. Something to do with grad school, I'm sure.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, but I want a niece or nephew way badly! Too bad my siblings are a lot younger than me and I'll probably be old by the time they have kids!

 What countries did you visit?
None :( 2010 was the year for that. I plan on travelling a ton when I am making more money!

What would you like to have in 2012 that you didn’t have in 2011?
A silver Honda Civic and perhaps a relationship.

What dates from 2011 will be etched upon your memory, and why?
2/17: just an all-around good day, and a lucky Thursday, 5/14: I went to my first Real Soccer game with my best friends, 5/16: first speeding ticket :(

What was your biggest achievement of this year?
Deciding on my career path :)

What was your biggest failure?
Spring 2011 semester. I'm pretty sure I suffered with a bout of depression, although it wasn't clinically diagnosed. My grades were awful and I didn't feel like myself. I am happy I got over that and never want to go back!

Did you suffer illness or injury?
No, luckily! I felt pretty healthy.

What was the best thing you bought?
Hmm...probably my MacBook Pro. I love it :)

Where did most of your money go?
Gas/CDs/concert tickets/savings account

Did you meet anyone new this year who had an impact on your life?
Not really, I mean, you meet people all the time who influence you for good, but I didn't have anyone in particular. I've grown close to old friends and they definitely have an impact on my life.

What did you get really excited about?
Spending the month of July in Colorado. Throwing my friend Kiri a bridal shower. Going to baseball/soccer games and concerts. Working with my cutie kids at my work.

What song will always remind you of 2011?
Anything by Mumford and Sons.

Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer?
a) Overall, happier.
b) about the same
c) a little bit richer, hooray :)

What do you wish you’d done more of?
Not worrying about things I couldn't control. More DIY projects. Having random fun. Opening up to people {I have a hard time with that}

What do you wish you’d done less of?
Probably worrying in general.

How did you spend Christmas?
With my family and then my grandparents came up from Price :) and we went to church and then hung out the rest of the day.

Did you fall in love in 2011?
Depends on what type of love you're talking about, but no.

What was your favorite TV program?
I liked Community, New Girl, Wipeout and The Voice.

What was the best book you read?
The Four Loves or The Help

What was your greatest musical discovery?
Bon Iver (Love them! I want to see them live), Mumford and Sons and Parachute

What did you want and get?
A job that I loved.

What did you want and not get?
Nothing ? I'm not sure.

What was your favorite film of 2011?
I can't remember! I am, however, looking forward to seeing Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close later this month.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I went to school, but celebrated later! I turned 21. Later, in the summer, I went to my first bar in America and I liked it, which was surprising because I kinda thought you would just have fun at a bar if you were drinking. Not true. It was quite entertaining!

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I wouldn't say ''immeasurably more satisfying," but still having Upsilon (my institute sorority) in existence would have made the latter part of the year better. I miss it a lot. BUT, I am grateful that I can still meet up with the girls.

How would you describe your personal fashion concept of 2011?
I've been told hipster...? but I don't know. Never preppy. I like headbands, braids, boots, Vans, comfy jackets, scarves, jewelry. I am definitely an accessories person.

What kept you sane?
My friends and family

Who did you miss?
My friends from CEU

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011.
To have realistic expectations.

Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
When you're happy like a fool, let it take you over
When everything is out you gotta take it in

Oh, this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
-Good Life, OneRepublic
