Why are some people so hard to forget about? and why do I always go for guys who rarely like me back? I need some new perspective. Care to chat/share?
Need to figure it out.

happy.
Things that are making me happy right now~!
-education/career plans {possibly} changing
-travelling
-desire to meet new friends that are more similar to myself
-summer break is mere days away
-boys who have little cute side smiles. :) gets me every time!
-already filling my days for next week! Finals still til Wednesday, but I have fun plans Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights, working on lucky Thursday. There's gotta be something good!
-realizations that I need to be bold even though the unknown can be scary sometimes
-planning vacations that I want to/will take to:
All I need is a travelling buddy and I'm set. Please, please let me meet someone who will like to go to all of these places with me! and let's not forget Greece, Thailand, Portugal and Brazil. and then after that, maybe Japan :) I need new friends that aren't so lame and bail on me all the time, preferably ones that are music junkies and love to travel like I do. I just wanna see the world! Yay!!
have a good week
amigos, let's please play after finals, yes!
xoxox,
ash
ps, after my last final on Wednesday, I'm considering buying myself flowers. Pathetic? Maybe.
Tough choice. Any will be fabulous though :) anything but roses. pretty, but everyone and their dogs get roses. I like unique stuff.
also, hoping that someone that reads my blog will appreciate this as much as I did--

an 'I told you so, mom' moment.
My mom calls me up and is like. "Ash, guess what?!"
A: what?
M: I just got off the phone with my friend Jeff and we were talking about our kids and he told me that he has a kid who's majoring in linguistics. and I said oh no, I have a kid who's doing that too. what is he going to with that?
Then she told me that he said that the kid just finished a masters in ling and is leaving in September to Korea to teach English to the business execs at Samsung.
Of course, I thought that was awesome.
I've had my mom convinced that I will be able to get a job in my field since last summer. Before that, I put up with a lot of crap, until I finally just told her that I'm gonna buy a VW Vanagon and live in it. Dead serious; I still want to at some point. That made the topic a little lighter when it came up though.
This phone call made me want to say I told you so, mom! She acknowledged that there are teaching jobs, but you generally have to go overseas for them. She didn't even balk when I told her that. so see, my major is perfectly fine :) and, even better, if I change my mind and end up dumping CSD and doing the TESOL cert instead, I can go participate in the fun-ness of travelling/living abroad too!
yay.

this week.
week two of a crazy three! The end is in sight, I can almost see it!
In an hour, I leave to take my final exam in Hearing Disorders. It's cumulative and I honestly feel pretty good about it, but last night, I was having a meltdown over it! I seriously almost called some boys in my ward for a blessing of comfort over it. Pathetic? Probably.
I am sooo excited for this weekend! After 3 today, I have to run some errands and then I am going to the temple! I usually don't talk much about that sort of thing on this blog, but I am today. I think I'll go to SLC even though I've wanted to go to Bountiful because it's my fave. Regardless, I am so thrilled to finally get to go. I've felt like I needed to for almost two weeks now and I finally have time. Yay.
Then I have a date :) hopefully it's fun and the guy is nice to me. that's about all I can ask for of dates these days. It would also be so cool if I actually had some mutual interest in the guys who ask me out. but to be fair, I do follow the one date rule. Then i've given it a shot and if I'm not interested, I don't feel bad saying no to a second date invitation when there is one. Speaking of dating, I am sick of being single. I know the stupid "your time will come" thing, but I'm not even talking about marriage. I'm not into that at all right now. I just want the companionship of a boyfriend I guess. Guys are so much more chill. I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone and meet new boys, but it's not all it's cracked up to be. All my friends who are girls can be so fickle lately and I hate it! I almost avoid hanging out with them, bad news.
Tomorrow, Chandra and I are going to play and catch up. I think that will be fun! Love me some story swapping!
Next week, I have finals on monday and wednesday and then I am free!! I seriously need a break. I feel like I've been in college for so long and I am ready to be done! I want to move on to grad school. ahh so stressed out because I have to pick aud or law before I can even think about grad school in more depth. there are five thousand questions about school and its implications on my future running through my mind, which I will sort out later! For now, I will concentrate on getting through next week!

ps. Bought some candy at all-a-dollar yesterday and it totally reminded me of buying candy from Guido Rachiele's store in Price (near the the paint supply place, but I don't think the grocery store is still there). Candy is rock solid, makes you feel like you are going to break your teeth and super cheap but it still makes you happy :) Love moments like that, right?!

last week.
Last week was crazy! I am so happy that my ling. senior capstone paper is finished and turned in! That was pretty much what my life revolved around. I didn't even go to Ingrid when she came to town on Thursday and she's my all-time fave singer! But that's ok, my friend couldn't make it and I didn't want to go alone. After late hours at the lib, four hrs of sleep over two days, and lots of stress, my paper was what I consider to be pretty damn good work, if I do say so myself! Friday at approx. 2:05, my life got a lot less stressful.
Friday night, I went to a cultural night that the school was having. Is it weird that I like stuff like that? because not a ton of people wanted to go to it. anyway, just as I got there, my friends were leaving!
I would have stuck around and browsed alone, but lately, I have not wanted to do anything alone! That in itself is weird because in the past, I've been completely content to go to activities, the store, even movies by myself. I find it funny how people can change and we don't even know it til we really step back and think about it.
Saturday, I spent most of the day in k-town getting everything ready for my house warming party! It was so so much fun and I am pleased with the turn out we had! The company and the food were great; I think people enjoyed themselves :) I was glad to see everyone! Alexis(haven't seen her in forever!) was going to come, but didn't which I was a little sad about, but that's okay. Also, a friend from my dept. was going to bring his roommate that my friend likes and they didn't come! I was sad for her sake because she was really looking forward to it. Guys and their excuses. I thought their reason for not coming was valid, but then I saw some stuff on facey b newsfeed afterwards that tmade me think only part of that was true. I wish they would have just told me they weren't coming and/or didn't want to come, especially when I saw my friend on Monday and he told me they were coming. I prefer honesty to the excuses.
Today, we're in Price visting the fam. My mom's uncle Brennon died last Tuesday, so we came down to visit everyone. I thought my grandpa would still be really sad, but he seems okay. The topic of death is strange to me. I never really know how to react to it. I've never had someone close to me die, so I really don't know how it feels or how I can help comfort those who were close to the person.
This week, it's the last week of classes and I have a couple of exams and then two finals next week on actual finals week! Then the end is here! I can't wait for summer. The other day my roommates and I were talking about what we were excited for most about summer and mine were: no school (only if I choose to not take two classes over the summer!), looking for a new or second job, crossing stuff of my life to-do list and the best of all--summer walks and drives in the evening/night. I love Utah summer nights and how calm they are. Perfect for hanging out, etc. I will miss them when I jet out of here for graduate school.
Good luck to all on finals, and to my friends who have (this past friday) graduated, and those that are graduating, congratulations!

why is everything funnier at 2 am?
My roommate and I went to the lib last night and when we got back at 1:30am, we sat around for awhile, too tired to actually go to sleep. Then my other roommate came downstairs and started telling us about how her cell phone got stolen. What?! She told us she realized her phone was gone before she left school at 9:30pm and looked for it for two hours before she came home. Then, her WA friends and her mom started calling her on skype and they were freaking out because some guy was calling them from her phone asking them if they spoke Spanish in Spanish and then hung up and wouldn't answer again when they called back. so some guy has her phone and he apparently speaks English but wouldn't to them. Her mom seems a little paranoid--she told her to get in her car really fast and shut the door and drive away every time she's at the school. We had a fun time acting that out and we were laughing so hard! It wasn't even that funny! Her mom also thought that Jamillie had been kidnapped and the guy was calling for ransom! lol. Then, I don't know where my brain was, and I was like, "Well is it in your car?" and they both just looked at me and were like, "Ashlie! No! The guy has it!" and we laughed a lot more!
Then my roommate that went to the library with me went upstairs and came back down and was like, "My computer's working now! I just figured out that my extension cord that was connected to my charger wasn't plugged in!" She thought that her computer had finally crapped out because it has been acting weird and making funny noises for the past couple days and it wouldn't turn on or hold a charge (obviously)! haha too funny.
Not having enough sleep does strange things for me :)
and just for fun:
"If you have a crying baby, don't be around them for too long, because that can damage your hearing!"
--guy who gave a presentation on hearing conservation in my clin. methods class this morning when referring to this OSHA diagram that talks about occupations and the need for hearing protection.
also, during these presentations, it's weird that everyone says I'm so-and-so and I'm majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Utah. Duh! You wouldn't be in a 5000-level class in the program if you weren't. and it's a class presentation--of course you are a student at the U and not a guest speaker. Maybe I just feel snarky about this because I'm so tired today!
Cross your fingers that I can find a friend to go to Ingrid with tonight! and tomorrow my capstone paper is due! woo.

notes to self.
While living in the library in front of your computer, switch your contacts out for glasses before you leave the house or grab your ready-to-go kit with solution and a case so you can take them out at the library and you will therefore not want to gauge your eyes out five hours before the lib closes.
Keep someone who speaks Portuguese (or other foreign languages) near you at all times for paper translation. Don't you hate it when you find what seem like great research articles with good studies that will lend them to your topic well? That's what I am dealing with--and this one is in Portuguese. I have like what...3 friends that speak Portuguese. Sister Squirrel, please come up from St. George to translate this for me. Your mission president wouldn't mind, would he?! ;)

speed dating follow-up
it wasn't bad, at least the second part. the first part--where I actually talked to some new people, before I split to talk to someone I've known for a few years--was not so bueno. the dating was not speedy and they seriously needed to rotate people through faster. I know I'm not the type of person that clicks with someone in that way. I start to run out of things to say. and the guy I was talking to asked me what I was going to school for three times. you don't have to remember details, but at least remember that, man! school stuff's a cinch to remember!

speed dating? I hate it. but with four other groups...could be fun? we'll see. I need a break from homework anyway. I need someone to go with, so if my ward peeps read this in the next hr and 15 min, hit me up!
love life :) I want to actually date someone right now though. dear cute boy, please let me meet you somewhere.
