Viajare a Espana en 47 dias!

(I forgot the keystrokes for Spanish accents in the title)
(I travel (future tense) to Spain in 47 days!)

People! Ummm hello! I go to the lovely city of Oviedo, Spain in 1 month and 17 days. How cool is that? (pretty cool, I already know) Yesterday, I went up to Salt Lake for my first orientation with the study abroad group I am going with at the U. It was so cool--and it's finally starting to {sink in.} A few months ago, when I was applying for a passport and prepping to go, it was more of an intangible feeling. Now, it feels a ton more real!

I was a bit overwhelmed, but I think that's to be expected, and I am still processing all the information and to-dos. It is sooooo exciting. Another thing, is I am so proud to be paying for this experience all on my own. It makes me feel so powerful and able, to tell you the truth. I've worked my butt off and I deserve it. That may sound terrible, but I don't care. I am not getting any monetary assistance from my parents and it's the coolest feeling. I am making this possible for myself and it's amazing. Ahhh, I don't even know how to describe it.

I am so happy! I need to brush up on my Spanish. I realized something yesterday relating to the whole language thing-- We speak English here. I believe that when people come to America, they need to speak our language, and not have people cater to their differences to such a drastic extent. So naturally, I hold this (sometimes harsh) expectation of myself as I travel to a different country, with a different language than mine. I'm nervous! I am planning on flying over with a group of people, so that will be good, and help with the language barriers.

Hmmm...that's about it for my Spain plans for now. More in the future!

Peace out girl scout.
Ash
