the move.

So...as previously mentioned, I moved to Salt Lake! Yay! It's been great so far. My roommates are really fun and I love being so close to the U. Seriously. My apt is about a seven minute walk to the lib. That is a whole lot better than having to wake up two hours before class starts to get ready and get to campus from Kaysville. I'm not saying anything bad about that though, because it worked for me for the past (almost) two years and that's great. It makes me so happy to know that this is working out now. If I would have moved last spring when I really, really wanted to, it wouldn't have worked out as well. I can just feel that.

Every morning as I round the corner, the football stadium comes into view--I am so excited for fall semester now!  I am a part of the MUSS. I've never done it before and I think it will be very fun!!

I need to take some more pictures of my cute room and post them--but after I get my pictures and stuff up on the walls :)

For now, a couple pics I do have.

This is our job chart. and off to the left (not pictured) there is a color-coded organization system. Johanna is red, I'm purple, Alex is orange and Jamilie is green. That's why our people have some funky skin colors going on!
The front of my apartment. Isn't it cute?!
I love the wood flooring and the overall 'old' feeling it has to it. Very charming.

House warming party anyone?! I hope to have one soon ;)

ps. I have a date this weekend--first one since I moved to SLC. Not really even looking forward to it haha. I dislike dances! We're also doing a murder mystery--hopefully that's fun though.

"I believe in the family where there is a husband who regards his companion as his greatest asset and treats her accordingly; where there is a wife who looks upon her husband as her anchor and strength... The cultivation of such a home requires effort and energy, forgiveness and patience, love and endurance and sacrifice; but it is worth all of these and more." --Gordon B. Hinckley

I really hope that I can have a marriage someday that goes along with this quote :)

this week.

Officially sucks.
This is going to be a vent sesh post and I'm not even sorry about it ;)

It all started yesterday morning, I got sick, (threw up, sorry for the grossness but I won't go into detail) but then I felt well enough to go to school, so I went late and of course as soon as I sat down in my first class, she was like, "I think we're going to stop there. Sorry it's so early." Really lady?? Anyway, so then I went to read some passages for my friend who is a research assistant and is helping on a study a professor in my department is doing to test the nasality of native Utah speakers. They are doing this so they can have more precise measures for speech therapy and inserts for cleft palate surgeries! Pretty awesome if you ask me, so of course I wanted to help with that!

After I left the lab, my stomach hurt a little and so I figured I should eat something since there was nothing in my stomach. I ate a banana and then called my mom, upset at whether I should come home or not, because I didn't want to get sick at school, but I also didn't want to miss school and work if I wasn't going to be sick. I was also crying--over freaking stomach flu--lame, I know. I get really upset when I get stomach sick. Weird! After I got off the phone, the banana didn't work so I decided to just call it a day and go home. Luckily, my dad was in SLC for a job interview and could pick me up. I was glad I didn't have to deal with public trans while I was sick!

I was so grateful that my boss was way chill about everything but I was mad that I had to miss work for that! I already have to take time off in the coming weeks to finish my clinical observation hours that are due the end of April, so to have to take time off to be sick is stupid and unnecessary!

Anyway, yesterday for the rest of the day, I was sick off and on. I have a test today and I am missing it. I emailed my professor and she told me I'll have to take it in the testing center. Dang it!! Hate that! I wanted to take it normally with everyone else. Today I feel ok and have kept small amounts of very bland food down, but I am so DIZZY! Really is the weirdest feeling. I didn't go to school because I feel so disoriented. Weird. I should be better by tomorrow and can take another test I have. Why this happened on midterm week is beyond me!

The only good thing is that I didn't move this week after all (story later), because for some reason, it's a lot easier to be sick at my parents' house than my apartment. Does anyone else know why that is? haha. I didn't move because last week and weekend were crazy and this week is super busy. I was going to try to move little by little this week, but I decided not even to worry about it until Friday. That actually worked out better because then I don't have to worry about rent for March :) I do want to be hanging out with my roomies though! I went to church with them on Sunday and that was fun!

On a related note, next weekend, my roommate is doing a murder mystery dinner. I was fine when she told me it was a group thing, but then she turned it in to a date thing! Now I have to find a date when I'm new to the area and I don't know anyone! Why does all the fun stuff have to be so date-y?? I don't want to be left out of all the fun, but I also don't want to have to find a date all the freaking time who doesn't even really want to come. Seriously, all my Comm. Sci. and Disorders classes are predominately girls and there's nine people total in the one Ling. class I'm taking this semester. Not good odds on either end! No one from school. Maybe I can convince one of my guy friends from k-town to drive down and come with me! If all else fails, my roomie is going to set me up with someone. Dismal. After the murder-mystery, we will be going to a dance. It's at The Tower at the stadium and so I would want to go for the views of the city (I hear they're spectacular from there!) but not the dance! When I was in high school, I was all over dances! Loved them! But now, that is definitely not my thing. Plus with a blind date...I start to run out of things to say. Honestly, I've never clicked with a blind date to be able to be fine in a situation like that. It just gets weird! Anyway, wish me luck!

update.

Long time, no blog.
I've been busy with school and work lately, but this week is spring break. Halle-freakin-lujah! I can't believe it's already Thursday though. Of course, I wanted to be further along with the mountain of homework I needed to do this week, but let's face it...that didn't happen. I don't think it happens to anyone, honestly. The road to undone homework is paved with good intention :)
I guess I have one major announcement to make to blogland:

I'm moving! Next week.

Back when I wrote my birthday post, I said this was my year. Welp, it is! I'm growing up and making my own decisions. With that being said, I am grateful to have the support of my family. Talking to my mom about it was easier than I thought, which I am so glad for! I was dreading it the whole day on Wednesday, but then when I told her I was going to meet up with my future roommates, it was the perfect lead into this conversation! I was so glad for that. She encouraged me to wait til fall (as she has since I told her about this apt) and I calmly told her that it was simple--I feel good about this decision and that I should go now. Then I explained that I didn't ignore the bad feeling I had back when I was going to move in the fall and everything worked out--I got the job with 4-H, I was able to REALLY connect with my old buddies because I was here, etc.--and that I don't feel that I should ignore the good feeling about going this time :) and she said ok and told me if I feel good about it, then I should go for it. I really am excited. My room-roomie is from Washington and she just got here today. I haven't met her, but we've talked quite a bit and she seems cool. I have met the other two girls though, and they're cool too. I think we are going to have a good time. I think it will be weird adjusting to roommates again, but it will be fun!

I do have to say that I grateful for the not-so-awesome times that have led up to this, that have caused me to have patience in the past year ish. I believe everything happens for a reason and I am happy to have a job on campus, connections that brought me to this apartment and friends who I will get to see all the time now! Everything is falling into place (even though that's corny).

break.

I am taking a break from facebook this week. My goal is to not get on again til Friday or Saturday. I needed to write it down, so here it is :) I don't know how people can get so addicted to facebook, including me, but it definitely happens. I think this will be very beneficial.

oh hey.

Hey blogland that no one comes to anymore...what's up?

First things first, the job that I talked about in my last post? I got it!
Yay, I am so very happy. Today was my second day and I love it so far.
Hooray for being on campus extra long and not having to commute anywhere extra for work. That is awesome. I really am loving being on campus more. I was talking to a friend the other day and he asked if I still live in my hometown, and I told him yes, but that this has opened a new opportunity for me! I could actually start thinking about moving. We will see :D

I turned 22 last week! Yay for being 22. As you already know, I have always wanted to be 22. This is my year. For:__________________________ WHATEVER I want. Sky's the limit.

Tomorrow's Valentine's Day. I am great with not having a valentine, but for just once in my life, I would like to have one. Ya know?

Hope you all are having a great february. I sure am!

crossing my fingers.

I had a job interview yesterday for a job I really want. It's an on-campus job (like I've been wanting forever!) and it just seems so fun. She was explaining it to me and it sounded perfect--works with my school schedule and it seems like they have a great team to work with. I know it's just some measly, part-time college job, but I seriously want it so badly! I feel that the interview went really well. I think I will be really disappointed if I don't get it. She said she'd definitely be in touch with me by the end of next week! Wish me luck!
