today, just like every day, I was riding a UTA bus...
the driver decided to drive through some TRAX arms that were going to go down before he went through. Duh--he should have stopped! Isn't that what you normally do at railroad crossing arms? The roof was probably scraped, it sounded pretty bad. Glad we were in a round about up by the school and the tracks weren't right in front of the bus.
I just have to say--no wonder UTA has had some many accidents lately! They say that people have been distracted and that is what has caused most of the accidents, which I can see--there are a lot of things that distract drivers.
but still...
the bus driver today--sheesh, what a shining example!
way to train your people, UTA! Whatever you're doing, it needs some work.
any sort of train tracks freak me out, and they have since I started driving. I hate driving over them or near them. Needless to say, even as a passenger, this didn't make it any better for me. Ha.

wise words.
"There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't.
Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living." --author unknown
good, good advice

London calling {You know, that one song?}
I can hear it in my head; I hope you all can too while you read this.
People...
I have decided that I seriously want to spend a significant (openly interpret this, as I don't know how long) amount of time in the UK. I think it would be so fun!
What about grad school there?? I will say this has crossed my mind more than once, and the thought is becoming increasingly prominent in my brain. It's like a voice is saying go-Go-GO, louder and louder.
sigh
but how would I do this with the setbacks?
don't you love days when your mind thinks of everything under the sun and is going a million miles a minute?? That is me today and it has been awhile since I've had a day like this! adrenaline is pumping and I wish I could shut my brain off for a couple hours! at least til I can fall asleep. this is not letting my (already messed up) sleeping cycle bode well ;)
thanks for reading

- cost
- cost
- not to mention--AuD and SLP programs deal a ton with ASHA--American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and other Americanized standards. How would I go to school in a different country and come back to practice here in the states {because that's what I would want to do.} What if the requirements are different (which I am sure that some of them definitely are) How much would I have to 'make up,' if you will...That would be kinda crazy. Plus, how do I find out all this stuff from people who know what they are talking about...I feel like people may ask why I feel that I need or want to go out the country because we have so many good schools here. That's not the problem. It's just that I am comfortable (perhaps too comfortable) with local culture. I also really, really love to travel. I want to experience different culture. Live it. because that's a whole different ballgame than just going on a touristy vacation for two weeks. Even that would be nice, but I just can't get the thoughts of moving far away (and soon) out of my mind.

i don't know what to call this
Yesterday at work:
Child 1: You should be Mormon.
Child 2: Silence
1: You wanna know why?! (he was audibly excited)
pause
2: why?
1: because, because....you get TREATS!
2:hmmm (considering)...Catholic is boring.
I thought this was funny on all sides. Yes, could be deemed inappropriate by some. Oh well. Gotta love kids!
P.S. I'm starting to look at grad schools. so so excited for the future. I feel so great about everything right now :)

thoughts on CEU
so I'll admit, I love hearing people randomly talk about Price/CEU. It's funny to hear {eavesdrop?} what people have to say.
Like a couple months ago, when I overheard a girl say:
"We were driving through this little teeny town, called Price, Utah or something like that. and I got a ticket." She went on to talk about how rude the cop was. Cops can be rude anywhere. Funny.
Today, I was on the campus shuttle and listened to two girls talk about how one of them went down for Lite Brite and was disgusted with how dirty the dancing was...I wanted to pipe up and say 1) why does that matter?, and 2) have you ever been to a dance at the U? You'd probably have the same opinion or worse if it bugged you that bad, hate to tell ya. Then, they were saying how small it is and of course brought up the infamous comparison to Snow College. Then they weren't sure if it was a two year or four year (USU affiliation) school. One more thing...One of them was like, "Have you ever been to the Winger's in Price?! Best Winger's EVER!"
I thought the whole conversation was quite comical. Good ol' CEU.

funny
Today, I sold my car! so I called my grandpa {king of negotiating} to tell him that I got only $5 less than my asking price...he said:
"Well that's good, Ash. Should have got 5 dollars more than your asking price."
Typical Grandpa! but I think he was happy for me. That is something he would say for sure! I've never sold anything big like that before.
Still trying to decide what to do; whether I should buy a new car or just drive the one mentioned in the last post for awhile.

p.s. my weekend was good, even though I had to spend the majority of it in zoobieland provo. Oh well--it was an additional 18 hours for this pay period! so I won't complain!

Love/Hate relationships
I'm loving life, but I have two things that consume a lot of my mind right now and I don't know what to do about it.
My job--
This is a tough one. I have days that I absolutely love the kids that I work with and I feel that I've made a difference for them.
On the other side, there are days that I can't stand it and can't wait to go home at night.
The sad thing is that there is really no middle ground here. Which, in a way, is good because you might as well like something all the way, as opposed to just half way, but there's too many bad days and I don't like that aspect of this whole deal.
So...I'm left with a choice. but given that jobs are quite hard to find right now and this job works with my school sched, (for now, it won't next semester!) I think I should hold onto it.
I just don't know what to do for later. this creates a problem.
2nd dilemma: My car--
I love it because all the 'stuff' works on it, it's newer than my last car, it runs well, etc., etc.
I hate the gas mileage it gets, so badly! I absolutely cannot stand to go to the gas station and think of how much money I am wasting!
So, I need to sell it. The problem comes in when I have to decide what to do next.
Should I drive my ratty other car that drove me nuts in the first place and prompted me to get a different car? Or should I get a nice car that I really want? There are pros and cons to both, of course...mostly, the payment situation on a new car.
I could afford a payment because I don't have any other major bills that I would have when I graduate and start 'real' life, if you will.
but...if I just get a decent car for cash, then I could save said money and buy a car that I really, really want when I graduate, get a real job and have more financial stability than I do now.
what about paying for grad school? adding a car payment on top of that doesn't sound very fun.
what about now though?
uhhh...I hate making these decisions. even though when I think about it, I've done it before and it's easy. A car or measly job now pails in comparison to deciding where to go to school, what to study, blah, blah, blah, all of which have already been made.
I'm usually a very decisive person...
until next time, when I've made some decisions.
Peace

little things.
things that made me happy today:
a(n) (aqua) blue house with an orange door. {those are my colors}
the construction worker that helped me cross Highland Dr. (walking) at a really busy intersection when people would not stop.
getting my teeth cleaned at the dentist.
walking on President's Circle, getting excited that the leaves are going to change soon.
new library books to read.
knowing that I get to see some very fun people at an event tonight.
being generally happy and walking around with a big grin on my face to show it!
I thoroughly enjoy days like today. The little things in life MATTER. Take time to enjoy them.

fall.
I love fall, it's one of my favorite times of the year. Can't wait for corn mazes, apple cider, (starbucks is my fave :) ) fun with friends, doorbell ditching, (I'm a pro!) getting to wear boots, halloween atmosphere, etc. There's just something about it that makes me so happy. Yay!
and
I love my life right now :D
That's about it.
